The Akron Bar Association is here to help newly admitted lawyers transition into the practice of law! The Supreme Court of Ohio mandates that all newly admitted lawyers complete 12-hours of NLT by the end of their first biennial reporting period. The 12-hours include:
9-hours in one or more substantive areas of law;
3-hours of instruction in professionalism, law practice management, and client funds management.
Annually, the Akron Bar provides NLT courses in December followed by a social or networking event.
Newly admitted lawyers can satisfy 9-hours of the 12-hours NLT requirements by participating in the Lawyer-to-Lawyer Mentoring Program provided by the Supreme Court of Ohio's Commission on Professionalism. Lawyers who participate in mentoring must complete an additional 3-hours of classroom instruction on professionalism, law office management, and client fund management.
