Summary

In this One-Hour (1.0) General CLE Course, Dr. Wanda Lash, Director, Student and Family Services, provides family law attorneys with critical insights into the operational realities, legal frameworks, and procedural expectations of Akron Public Schools. We will explore key areas where family law matters frequently intersect with school policies and student well-being, including legal custody, attendance, Title IX, parental rights, bullying, cell phone use, and expulsion. Our aim is to foster a collaborative understanding of district needs and reporting requirements, enabling attorneys to more effectively advise their clients, minimize school related conflicts, and ultimately support stable and successful educational outcomes for every child.
