AI Ethics Series: Module 3 - Summit County Prosecutor is made possible by the CLE Committee and the Lawyers Assistance Committee of the Akron Bar Association and Foundation (Rubber City CLE).
This is a Free 4-part series, with each module being One and a Half-Hour(s) (1.50) Prof. Cond., that addresses the various ethical pitfalls different areas of the legal profession must consider when AI is used for tasks such as case review, research, documentation, and more. The series reviews current local and state rules, proposed regulations, and discusses personal experiences with AI in the courts.
Specifically, the program will examine the ethical use of AI tools by both attorneys and judicial officers in accordance with the Ohio Rules of Professional Conduct. This includes examining Rules 1.1, 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, 2.1, 3.1, 3.3, 3.4, 5.1, 5.3, and 8.4. Additionally, the series will address the Code of Judicial Conduct, which includes Rules 1.2, 2.2, 2.5, 2.7, 2.9, 2.10, and 3.5.
When signing up, you may also elect to be enrolled in the other modules in the series at no charge.
The 4 Modules are:
- ODC - Karen Osmond and Angela Richardson will start off the series with case law updates, testimonies, and advice.
- Summit Legal Defenders - Michael Gabelman and Abigail Schock will go over cases and the effects they had on clients, attorneys, and judges.
- Summit County Prosecutor – Heaven DiMartino and Jon Baumoel address the rules of ethics relevant to AI and potential ethical pitfalls one might encounter as well.
- Judicial Panel – Judges Betty Sutton, Christine Croce, J. Philip Calabese, and Judge Thomas Teodosio – (Moderator) host a panel discussing personal experiences and cases involving Judges in the Administrative, Municipal, Ninth Appellate District, Recovery, and Specialty Courts as well as how judges approach these important AI issues.

Failure to submit a notice of cancelation prior to 12 pm ET the day before forfeits entitlement to a refund.
