State of Ohio - Since 2019 the Ohio Criminal Sentencing Commission (Commission) has taken the lead in creating a standardized Uniform Sentencing Entry and Method of Conviction forms. The uniform entry templates are within a web-based application, the Ohio Sentencing Data Platform (OSDP) and allow-for the first time in Ohio-felony sentencing data to be anonymized and aggregated. The standardized templates in the OSDP allow—for the first time in Ohio-felony sentencing data to be aggregated and analyzed. That anonymized, aggregated information can then be shared via a “Public Portal.”
Over the summer of 2022, we conducted a series of seven focus groups around the state to tell us what information about sentencing would be most helpful to you and how you could or would use it.
The Commission will be presenting the findings of these focus groups on Fri., Oct. 21, 2022, from 1 - 2 pm EST. The event will be a virtual webinar, held over Zoom, with support from the Ohio State University Drug Enforcement and Policy Center. To register, please click here...
About
Authorized under Sections 181.21 - 181.25 and 181.27 of the Ohio Revised Code, the Ohio Criminal Sentencing Commission is an affiliated office of the Supreme Court of Ohio that routinely brings together judges, prosecuting and defense attorneys, behavioral health professionals, academics, corrections officials, law enforcement, victims’ advocates, community corrections experts, and others with a direct interest in criminal sentencing. Because of its broad and diverse membership the Commission is well positioned to bridge the information gap among criminal justice system partners. The Commission routinely seeks bipartisan, meaningful, forward thinking, informed processes and outcomes through creative solutions – beyond simplification and modernizing the Revised Code – the Commission’s work is to enhance justice and ensure fair sentencing in the State of Ohio.
