Summit County, Ohio - Summit County Probate Court and Summit Metro Parks are partnering to offer a free outdoor wedding ceremony and vow renewal for Summit County residents at the Valley View Area of Cascade Valley Metro Park, located at 1212 Cuyahoga St, Akron, OH 44313. Promises in the Park: An Outdoor Wedding Event will be held on Fri., Sep. 23, 2022, at 11:00 am. Akron Municipal Court Judge Nicole Walker will perform the ceremony. Those wishing to marry or renew their vows in this group ceremony must register.
The event will take place in an outdoor setting featuring beautiful park views or inside Himelright Lodge in the event of inclement weather. Couples are welcome to invite up to 10 guests to observe their nuptials. Photographs are not only allowed but encouraged. One registration is required per couple.
To commemorate the ceremony, Summit Metro Parks will provide a sapling tree for each couple to plant at home in honor of their marriage. Music will be provided for the ceremony.
“Our parks are treasured spaces, and many couples have dreamed of celebrating their wedding day at Valley View Area since it became available earlier this year,” said Summit Metro Parks Executive Director Lisa King. “Promises in the Park offers a beautiful and intimate option for couples to be married or renew their vows overlooking the scenic vistas of Valley View at no cost.”
Couples must obtain a marriage license from Summit County Probate Court prior to the ceremony at the Summit County Court House. Go to summitohioprobate.com for details on obtaining your license.
The Summit County Court House is open to the public 8 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday at 209 S High St, Akron. In order to process your application and issue a license, it is advised that you be at the Court no later than 3:45 pm.
