Akron, OH — Leadership Akron is happy to announce Ronald S. Kopp, Attorney at Roetzel & Andress, as the recipient of the 2022 Lieberth Community Vision Award. Ron was selected because he exemplifies the ideals of this award: his leadership has shaped the Akron community in significant ways across multiple sectors, and it has been marked by selflessness, pragmatism, and hard work. Ron Kopp will receive the award during the Lieberth Community Vision Award Breakfast on Thurs., Nov. 3, 2022.
Ron is a graduate of Leadership Akron’s Signature program, Class 3, and served as program chair of Media Day for twenty years. He served on the Leadership Akron Board from 2006-2017 and was Chair from 2014-2016. During his tenure on the board, he led the Strategic Planning Committee and helped to develop the concept of a spectrum of programming, allowing Leadership Akron to address the needs of different ages and audiences. This included establishing an affiliation with Torchbearers, instituting NEXT—a program to help retired individuals explore how they might serve the community in their retirement—and laying the groundwork for Diversity on Board. Ron’s proudest moment was kicking off the Diversity on Board program while he was Chair. In addition to Leadership Akron, Ron has served as Trustee for a wide range of organizations, including the Welty Family Foundation, Summit County Historical Society, United Disability Services, and Akron General Medical Center Foundation.
Ron has been an Attorney with Roetzel & Andress since 1979 and has been of Chair of Business Litigation, Partner-in-Charge of the Akron office, and Chair of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee. He was included in The Best Lawyers in America for Bet-the-Company Litigation and for Commercial Litigation from 2007 to 2022. He is past president of both the Akron Bar Association and the Ohio State Bar Association. He is also a director of the Ohio Bar Liability Insurance Company, a Fellow of the both the Ohio State Bar Association and the Akron Bar Foundation, and a Member of the Ohio State Bar Association Council of Delegates.
Ron is a graduate of Miami University and The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.
Ron has been married to Jean for almost forty years, and they have three adult children and five grandchildren.
