Effective 11/20/2015, Local Rule 15 of the Summit County Court of Common Pleas only allows individuals who reside or work in Summit County to apply for a Notary Renewal Commission through the Akron Bar Association. If you do not live or work in Summit County, please contact your county clerk of courts or bar association for assistance.
At least six weeks prior to the expiration of your notary license, obtain a Notary Commission Renewal Packet & Application from the Akron Bar Association and pay the $70 renewal fee. You can pay this fee and request a renewal packet by clicking on Add to Cart above. As a reminder, you will not be able to notarize if your license is expired!
Notaries Public may renew their licenses up to one year past the expiration date without having to take the test again. If it has been over one year since your expiration date, you may schedule your test date online. The cost to take the test is $70.00, and tests are conducted most Mondays.
The renewal process usually takes six to eight weeks from the time the completed renewal form is received by the Akron Bar Association.
Upon receipt of payment, your study guide & application will be available for download in Adobe PDF format. The download will be available for 10 days after purchase. The page will look something like this:
