One of the goals of the Akron Bar Association is to provide assistance to the public in several capacities, which you’ll find listed here.
Lawyer Referral Service
The Lawyer Referral Service puts you in contact with a pre-screened attorney in the area of law you need. You will receive a 1/2 hour consultation with an attorney for $30* (payable through this website using Visa, MasterCard or Discover). If you decide to retain the attorney, further fees can be discussed during your consultation. You can receive a referral instantly here, or contact the referral service by email or phone at (330) 253-5038.
*For referrals concerning Social Security, Unemployment, Workers’ Compensation, Personal Injuries, Wrongful Death and Personal Bankruptcy, the first half-hour consultation is free of charge.
The Akron Bar Association, through its Lawyer Referral & Information Service Speakers Bureau, provides attorneys to speak to local school students, community organizations, and clubs on a wide variety of topics. The intent is to educate attendees on the law and the legal services available to them.

The Certified Grievance Committee of the Akron Bar Association has been given the authority by the Supreme Court of Ohio to investigate grievances against attorneys with a Summit County mailing address. Matters which arise in other counties may be directed to the local bar association in that county or to the Office of Disciplinary Counsel of the Supreme Court of Ohio, 250 Civic Center Dr., Suite 325, Columbus, OH 43215. More information on the Grievance Process can be found here.
The Akron Bar Association is not a court of law, we do not regulate attorney’s fees, nor do we have the authority to order attorneys to refund money. We do, however, have a Fee Arbitration Committee, which we provide as a service to the public and to our attorneys. We can request volunteers to serve on an arbitration panel from our Committee, but our by-laws provide that both parties must agree to binding arbitration. More information on Fee Arbitrations can be found here.
