The Supreme Court of Ohio mandates that all new attorneys complete 12 hours of NLT by the end of their first biennial reporting period. The 12 hours includes 9 hours in one or more substantive areas of law and three (3) hours of instruction in professionalism, law practice management, & client funds management.
The Akron Bar's New Lawyer Training: The Essentials of Embarking on Your Legal Career, scheduled for December 5-6 2019, is a hands-on, practical program designed to help new lawyers find their path in the practice of law. Presenters include local prominent attorneys and Akron Bar leadership. This full day program includes the Core Requirements (1 hour Professionalism, 1 hour Practice Management & 1 Hour Client Funds Management).

Attorneys may meet nine of the twelve required New Lawyers Training hours by participating in the Lawyer to Lawyer Mentoring Program sponsored by the Commission on Professionalism. Attorneys who participate in mentoring are required to complete an additional three (3) hours of classroom instruction on professionalism, law office management, and client fund management.
