Modest Means Program (MMP)
The Modest Means Program (MMP) provides an opportunity for attorneys to assist individuals who would otherwise have nowhere else to turn. The program also helps attorneys gain valuable experience; expand their client base; establish themselves in the legal community; and maintain a workflow at non-peak times.
The purpose of the Modest Means Program is:
- To provide reduced-fee, civil legal assistance to low-income Summit County residents who do not have access to Legal Aid or pro bono services and who cannot afford legal fees at market rates.
- To allow Akron Bar members to provide a public service by rendering reduced-fee legal services to persons who could not otherwise afford such services.
- To provide valuable experience to inexperienced lawyers through reduced-fee representation of low-income clients.
