WHAT DOES THE LAWYER REFERRAL SERVICE DO?
The Akron Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service is a non-profit public service. Contact with our service puts you in touch with a pre-screened lawyer with whom you may schedule a 1/2 hour appointment for a prepaid $30.00 fee (instead of the lawyer's normal hourly fee). This fee is waived for personal bankruptcy, SSI, workers compensation and personal injury. Fees for additional services beyond the consultation are arranged between you and the lawyer. Often the consultation is all that is needed.

WHAT IF I CANNOT AFFORD AN ATTORNEY?
The Lawyer Referral Service does not make arrangements for reduced fees or free legal services. These types of cases are handled by the following organizations in Northeast Ohio:

WHAT IF I JUST HAVE A QUICK QUESTION AND DON'T WANT A CONSULTATION?
The
Ask An Attorney Program is offered the second and fourth Fridays of each month from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Call the Akron Bar Association at 330-253-5007 to speak to the attorney on duty that morning. He or she will answer your question or advise you if you need to have a thirty minute consultation for your legal problem.
Ask An Attorney is also offered on Friday mornings at 8:20 a.m. on WAKR Radio (1590 AM) during the Ray Horner Morning Show. If you hear this segment on 1590 WAKR and wish to call in to speak with the volunteer lawyer, call (330) 370-1590.
