Summit County Criminal Indigent List
If you are an attorney that has been in practice less than two years, in order to be placed on the Indigent Representation List, you are required to view the following:
• Annual Criminal Law Update Live or Video Replay (Annual Requirement)
• ABC’s of a Jury Trial Video Replay
• Nuts-n-Bolts of Criminal Law Practice Video Replay
These programs provide the basic procedures for handling criminal cases. After viewing them you will be qualified to handle fourth and fifth degree felonies and sit unpaid 2nd chair to gain experience. You can view these On-Line CLE videos on our
website.
All attorneys regardless of years in practice are required to view the Annual Criminal Law Update ANNUALLY. The live seminar is held every October. There will be two video replays, one in November and one in December. There will be
NO make up sessions. If you do NOT take one of these three seminars, you will not be on the January Criminal Appointment List.
The Criminal Law Update video will be available on-line from May through September. Once you have completed this requirement, your name will be placed on the
NEXT Indigent List that is sent to area judges.
The Court Appointed Counsel Indigent List is updated four times a year; January, April, July and October. The list is mailed to the Court of Appeals Ninth District, Common Pleas and Municipal Courts in Akron, Barberton and Cuyahoga Falls.
