Report Pro Bono Service By March 31 St

Ohio lawyers on active registration, and who have on file with the Supreme Court an email address, have until March 31st to take advantage of the opportunity to report hours of pro bono service, and financial contributions to programs that provide legal services to persons of limited means, for calendar year 2009.

Around January 8th, The Supreme Court of Ohio sent to attorneys an email containing a link to the website where attorneys choosing to report pro bono activities may do so anonymously. The sender of the email was identified in the recipient’s email as “The Supreme Court of Ohio.”

The reporting process consists of entering information and answering three demographic questions, and will take five to seven minutes to complete.

Law firm equity partners may report a pro rata share of law firm contributions to organizations that provide legal services to persons of limited means.

The Court’s voluntary, anonymous collection of information related to pro bono activities, in conjunction with the Ohio Legal Assistance Foundation, occurred for the first time in January of 2009. Attorneys reported more than 123,000 hours of pro bono service for 2008, and about $700,000 in financial contributions.
