2010 Lawyer To Law Student Mentor Program

The University of Akron Liaison Committee needs your help.

The 2010 Lawyer-to-Law Student Mentor Program begins February 16th. The program has been a success for several years now, and we are looking forward to another great year. As such, we would very much value your participation as a mentor.

The Program pairs lawyer members of the Akron Bar with U of A law students to create a mentoring relationship through which the mentor provides guidance and shares practical knowledge about the legal profession. The purpose of the mentoring program is to allow law student participants the opportunity to have a glimpse beyond the study of law into the practice of law. The mentor and the law student participate in activities selected from the activity pool which meet their particular needs and goals as self-identified in their mentoring plan, such as jointly visiting the courthouse or attending a bar association committee meeting. The mentor and law student initially create their individualized plan, which will consist of five activities they chose to meet the practice setting of the mentor and the individual goals of the law student. The pair will have February through October to complete the activities.

This year’s program will kick-off February 16th at the Meet your Mentor event the Akron Bar Association Offices from 5:00-6:30 p.m. If you are willing to participate please complete and return the application form found by clicking here.

Please contact me if you have questions.

Thank you for your time and consideration,
Elizabeth G. Yeargin
