Orville Reed - 2009 Professionalism Award
Orville L. Reed, III received a BA degree, magna cum laude
, from Borromeo Seminary College in 1969. He attended the University of Notre Dame School of Law and was conferred the degree of Juris Doctor, with distinction, in 1973. In the same year, he was duly licensed and admitted to the practice of law in the State of Ohio.
Orville has been a member in good standing of the Akron Bar Association since 1974 and has served on numerous committees. He became a Fellow of the Akron Bar Foundation in 1988 and served on the Akron Bar Foundation Board of Governors from 1993-1998.
Orville served on numerous Boards of community organizations including the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO), the United Way, and Walsh Jesuit High School. He was a founding member of the Scanlon Inn of Court, served as its President from 2006-2008, and has served as a Bencher since 1988.
Orville recently received special recognition for being named for more than twenty consecutive years as one of the Best Lawyers in America ® (1989- 2010). He has been listed as one of Ohio’s Super lawyers ™ from 2004 - 2009, as voted by his peers. He has also been listed among the Top 10 Ohio Super Lawyers,™ one of the Top 50 Lawyers in the Cleveland area in 2007, and among the Top 100 Ohio Super Lawyers™ in 2004-2006 and 2009-2010.
Orville joined the law firm of Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs in Akron in 1973, and became a partner in 1979.
