Summit County Criminal Indigent List
If you are an attorney that has been in practice less than two years, in order to be placed on the Indigent Representation List, you are required to view an Annual Criminal Law Update Video, ABC’s of a Jury Trial Video, and the Nuts-n-Bolts of Criminal Law Practice Video, WHICH GIVES YOU THE BASIC PROCEDURES IN HANDLING CRIMINAL CASES. After viewing these videos, you will be qualified to handle fourth and fifth degree felonies and sit unpaid 2nd chair to gain experience.
Your name will be placed on the next Indigent List that is sent to area judges four times per year; January, April, July, and October. The Indigent Criminal Appointment List is sent to the Court of Appeals Ninth District Common Pleas, and the Juvenile and Municipal Courts in Akron, Barberton and Cuyahoga Falls.
Please
click here to schedule a time to view the videos. There is a charge of $50.00 each to view the Annual Criminal Law Update Video and Nuts-n-Bolts of Criminal Law Practice Video and a charge of $85.00 to view the ABC’s of a Jury Trial Video. Materials will be provided with each of the three videos. Once you have completed the video requirements, you may return the
indigent application form to the Bar Office. Please feel free to review the
120-1-10 Qualifications for Assigned Counsel and Public Defenders form.
PLEASE NOTE: In order to ensure that your address, phone number, and case-type information is completely up-to-date, you will receive a letter and the Indigent Application Form from the bar office twice a year. If the Indigent Application Form is not returned to us, your name will be removed from the Indigent Representation List and you will have to wait until the next quarter to be placed back on the list.
THANK YOU!
